The forest is too important to our village. Because we are protecting the forest we can actually survive on our own from the land here and not have to rely on other places.

Our Mada-friendly business cards!

Choosing Canva to design and print our cards

We have decided to get our business cards printed with Canva because of their take on sustainability:

- They offer uncoated paper business cards, which are easier to recycle as the paper has not been bleached;

- They source paper from sustainable sources, separate from their reforestation projects;

- Every time you print with Canva, your order will unlock a tree to be planted at one of their 18 locations, across 11 countries;

- Last but not least, one of the communities they are supporting is located in Madagascar, see below.

You can find out more about their sustainable efforts here.

Canva's efforts in Moraharivo, Madagascar

"Our planting partners in the Betsiboka River are focusing on restoring its precious mangrove forests. The estuaries of the Betsiboka were once surrounded by mangrove forests that held a variety of habitats for unique plant and animal species. For centuries, local Malagasy people have relied on the fish and shellfish living in these ecosystems for sustainable food sources. The mangroves’ deep root systems are also vital for stabilizing the coastline and reducing erosion.

  • Type of Reforestation – Mangrove
  • Size of Site – 872 hectares
  • Trees per Hectare – 10,000
  • 2021 Hectares Restored – 20
  • Carbon Sequestered per Hectare – 840 metric tons
  • Total Estimated Carbon Sequestered – 16,800 metric tons"

BEINg a member of the anglo-malagasy society

Why do this?

Being based in the UK, we thought it would make a lot of sense to become a member of the Anglo-Malagasy Society, and in April 2023, that's what we did!

You can find more information about them here and below:

"The Anglo-Malagasy Society retains the same aims that were set out when it was founded in 1961, namely to promote links between the United Kingdom and Madagascar by the following means:

  • To further friendship and co-operation between the peoples of the United Kingdom and Madagascar;
  • To establish and foster cultural links between the two nations;
  • To make Madagascar more widely known in the United Kingdom by means of discussions, lectures and functions;
  • To assist British companies interested in establishing and maintaining business relations with Madagascar;
  • To encourage visits of persons from this country to Madagascar and to help them with information wherever possible;
  • To welcome Malagasy nationals, especially students, in this country and assist them to make contacts with people likely to help them understand British life and customs."
